Rules of Golf
Play will be governed by the 2008-2009 Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA. Local rules and conditions of competition will be included in each player’s registration packet. The Colorado Open Rules Committee is comprised of staff and volunteer Rules Officials from the Colorado Golf Association, Colorado Women’s Golf Association, the Colorado Section PGA, and the Colorado Open Golf Foundation. This Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein and shall settle all questions and disputes related to the Qualifying Round and the Championship—their decision is final.
 
Player Registration
All participants must register in person at the Player Registration area prior to play of the Championship.
 
Playoffs
For the Championship—Hole-by-hole playoff on hole #18 and continuing on 18 until the Champion is determined.
For Low Amateur—Hole-by-hole playoff on hole #10 and continuing on 10 until the Low Amateur is determined.
 
Golf Balls & Equipment
Only brands of golf balls listed on the USGA’s current List of Conforming Golf Balls and driver heads listed on the USGA’s Conforming Driver Head List may be used. The optional condition prescribed in Appendix I of the Rules of Golf shall be in effect.
 
Dress Requirements
Throughout the Championship, players and their caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. Players in the Championship are required to wear collared or mock-neck shirts and LONG pants. Caddies must also wear collared or mock-neck shirts, but are permitted to wear appropriate length shorts. During the Championship, caddies are required to wear the provided bib at all times to designate their status as an official caddie. Denim, t-shirts and tank tops are expressly prohibited. The Committee in charge of the competition decides whether or not this requirement has been met and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply.
 
Footwear
Footwear is required for both players and caddies. Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round. Penalty for breach: DISQUALIFICATION.
 
Conduct
Unbecoming conduct by a player or his or her caddie, reported to the Committee before, during or after a competitor’s round, may be cause for rejecting a player’s entry or action under Rule 33-7. Objectionable conduct includes club throwing, foul language, abuse of the golf course or course property, abuse of officials, alcohol/drug impaired behavior, or any conduct unbecoming a lady or gentleman. Players may also be suspended from playing in future Colorado Open Golf Foundation events.
 
Time of Starting
The Note under Rule 6-3 and the Optional Condition for time of starting prescribed in Appendix I of the Rules of Golf will be in effect.
 
Cellular Phones and Pagers
The use of cellular phones and/or pagers is NOT permitted on the competition course during the Championship, unless authorized by the Committee or in the event of a medical emergency. This includes players, caddies, and spectators.
 
Distance Measuring Devices
Throughout the Championship, a player may obtain distance information by a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if during a stipulated round, a players uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his or her play (e.g. gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which penalty is DISQUALIFICATION, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.
