Caddies & Carts

Caddies: Caddies are allowed; however, the Colorado Open Golf Foundation is not responsible for furnishing caddies and recommends that players bring their own. Players are NOT required to employ a caddie for the Championship and may carry or push/pull their own bag.

Carts:  PROHIBITED—All players and caddies must walk.

Push/Pull Carts:  permitted—players may use push/pull carts.  A limited supply are available for rent on a first come first served basis from Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

Disabled Participants & Spectators:  The Committee reserves the right to waive the no-cart rule for anyone with a disability as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All such requests and required supporting information must be submitted in writing with the entry application by the deadline. Requests due to temporary injuries or impairments that do not qualify as a "disability" under the ADA will not be granted. Cart availability for spectators is not guaranteed and riders must provide their handicap parking permit or like written verification of their disability to be eligible to rent a cart. The per rider fee is determined by Green Valley Ranch Golf Club. 

Exemption Categories & Listing

Exemption Eligibility
Players in the following categories shall be exempt into the Championship provided that a completed entry, with payment, is received prior to stated deadline, and she is otherwise eligible.  Exemptions reserved for amateurs will be granted only to players who remain amateurs through the duration of the Championship. An amateur who accepts an exemption from qualifying becomes ineligible to compete in the Championship if he becomes a professional before or during the play of the Championship. Exemption Categories:
Exemptions from qualifying are available in the following categories:
  1. All former Colorado Women's Open Champions
  2. Top 20 plus ties (amateur and professional) from the 2007 HealthONE Colorado Women's Open Championship
  3. The Colorado Section of the PGA has 5 exemptions to use at their discretion.
  4. The Colorado Women's Golf Association has 15 exemptions to be issued at their discretion to the top Colorado amateurs and in accordance with the amateur eligibility requirements listed above.
  5. If eligible, the championship host site professional.
  6. The top returning player (as determined by 2007-08 end of season scoring average) on the women’s golf team from the following local NCAA Division I programs: University of Colorado, Colorado State University, University of Denver, University of Northern Colorado and the University of Wyoming.  Head Coaches will receive invitation to offer to the player. If the top player is already exempt under another category, this exemption may be used by the school's #2 player.
  7. Sponsor Selection—up to 3 exemptions will be granted upon committee decision.
  8. Any player that has made the Colorado Women's Open Championship cut at least twice out of the past four years (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007).

Field Composition
Field Limit: The starting Open Championship field shall be limited to 92 players (50 professionals, 42 amateurs).
 
Professionals:  Should eligible professional entry applications exceed 50 at the time of the stated deadline, the following entry priority shall take effect:
1. All exempt professionals provided that the entry is received prior to the stated entry deadline, and she is otherwise eligible;
2. All other eligible professionals whose entries are received prior to the stated entry deadline and otherwise eligible on the basis of earliest receipt up to the maximum of 50;
3. Professional applications received beyond the maximum field size shall be placed on a wait/alternate list on the basis of earliest receipt. 
 
Amateurs:  Should eligible amateur entry applications exceed 42 at the time of the stated deadline, the following entry priority shall take effect:
1. All exempt amateurs provided that the entry is received prior to the stated entry deadline, and she is otherwise eligible;
2. All other eligible amateurs whose entries are received prior to the stated entry deadline and otherwise eligible on the basis of lowest Handicap Index up to the maximum of 42;
3. Amateur applications received beyond the maximum field size shall be placed on a wait/alternate list on the basis of lowest Handicap Index. 
 
NOTE: Players from the wait/alternate list shall only replace those from the same classification (i.e. Professionals replace professionals and amateurs replace amateurs).
 
Pro-Am Competition: All professionals must compete in the Pro-Am Competition. Amateurs (Net Amateurs) for the Pro-Am Competition shall be affiliated with event sponsors and provided by the Committee. In the event all net amateur positions are not filled, the Committee may allow professionals the opportunity to provide their own net amateur partner. NOTE: Amateurs may NOT compete in both the Open Championship and Pro-Am competition.

Practice Rounds

ONE COMPLIMENTARY practice round is included in the championship entry fee!! After the entry deadline, championship participants may contact Green Valley Ranch Golf Club at 303-371-3131 to reserve practice round times.  Tuesday, May 27th is reserved for practice rounds, however, participants may redeem their complimentary round anytime between May 1-27.

Purses & Prize Payout
Purses: The Open Championship purse is $55,000 and the Pro-Am purse is an additional $18,000 (both purses include amateur merchandise prizes up to a maximum of $5,000 and $4,000 respectively). Prize money will only be paid to those players that make the 36 hole cut and complete the final round of play. Amateurs will receive their payment in the form of merchandise gift certificates redeemable at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

Refunds & Withdrawals

Refunds:  A full refund of the entry fee will be issued to all entrants not admitted into an event. There is a $45.00 service charge for ALL withdrawals prior to the entry deadline. Players who contact the Colorado Open Golf Foundation office to withdraw after the deadline date, but at least by 5:00 P.M. MDT one week prior to the first day of the event, will receive a 50% refund of their entry fee. Unless deemed appropriate by the Committee, players are not eligible for refunds after this cutoff. No refunds will be issued for any reason after the start of the tournament. All refunds are issued to the person listed on the entry form. Please allow up to two weeks for processing refund checks.

Withdrawals: If a player must withdraw from a Championship once it has begun, she must notify the Colorado Open Golf Foundation office or tournament site as soon as possible with the reason for the withdrawal.  “No-Carding,” “No-Showing,” and withdrawing from an event without a valid excuse is NOT acceptable.  All players needing to withdraw from an event must notify a member of the Committee prior to leaving the tournament site.  Failure to do so will result in a one-year suspension and loss of any future exemptions from any Colorado Open Golf Foundation event.
